One day, when we human beings have really refined the art of controlling our environment, the earth will spin a little differently on its axis. Imagine how much more productive the factories could all become if nights were shorter and days were longer. Those of us who push a treadmill day after day could push it harder, more of the time. And that would be just wonderful, wouldn't it? What's really so urgent now? Must you move heaven and earth to get what you are after? Won't it come in its own time if you just relax?

Dry your tears my darling
for love that has opend our eyes and made us its servants... will grant us the blessing of patience and forbearance .
Dry your tears and be consoled
for we have made a convenant with love
and for that love shall we bear the torment of poverty
and the bitterness of misfortune
and the pain of seperation...

I wish I could hold you, a bit closer, a bit tighter than usual, and feel your hearbeat against mine...then I could close my eyes and fall sleep!

They say, that hope springs eternal. Pessimism, though, is perennial too. We think we have solved our problems. Suddenly, there they are, back again. Does something within us secretly thrive on disappointment? Do we unwittingly create obstacles for ourselves? Or do they just find a way into our lives, whether we invite them or not? I guess we all have fears that if we take a brave step at a point it will backfire....we suspect it may be wiser to set our sights lower...but if do how would we know..it may yet grace us with a truly brilliant opportunity...if we just rise to it!!!

If we never worry, we miss out. We lead a life without sufficient sensitivity. We take too much for granted. We cut ourselves off from the fragile magic of our own vulnerability. If we worry too much though, we also have trouble. We become incapable of action. Every decision starts to seem daunting. There is no enjoyment, only anxiety. I guess what we need to have is to get the balance just about right in most areas of our life. And if in one part of our world, though, something has slipped out of line...then I guess we need to find a way to set it straight...

Sometimes though...we may be the reason for the slippage...perhaps because we are deeply dutiful...and for all that we like to insist on our independence, and for all that we pretend not to care about what others may expect from us, our loyalties are extremely strong....perhaps we are keenly conscious of a promise that we would like to keep....Weirdly, in some ways, it means more to us than it does to the ostensible beneficiary....maybe this is where we need to stop and remember that a big restriction is almost entirely of our own creation and who knows...perhaps the key to this prison is in our own pocket....
